Figures and statistical data obtained in Colombia, as well as those of The International Society of Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), and The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) show that 11% of aesthetic surgeries are done to male patients. 

15 years ago, just 5% of patients were men. And most of them requested a highly needed nose surgery (rinoplasty). Men confidence started to grow, hair transplants were the next step, immediately followed by abdominal lipoaspiration, which was more and more popular for middle aged patients, blepharoplasty (eyelids surgery) and, why not, facial liftings. 

Statistic figures indicate that liposuction (removal of fat tissue) in men has increased 500% since 1992. Besides, the number of male patients that got facial liftings since 1992 has increased 300%. 

Currently, men surgeries represent from 10% to 25% of total plastic surgery, according to surgical centers. 

20% of cosmetic products consumers are men. The most popular procedures, for masculine customers are botulism toxin injections (neurotoxin that paralyzes a given part of a muscle, reducing wrinkles), facial cleansing, hydration therapies, and treatments for hair loss. Acne and its sequela is a big concern. Men who are older than 30 consult physicians about wrinkles, dilated pores, black points.

Men older than 40 are worried about skin dryness and loss of elasticity. Crow’s foot is also a concern. Men older than 50 consult about facial and scalp stains.

+ These are the most frequently performed procedures in plastic surgery in 2004:

- The Number of patients of reconstructive plastic surgeries has increased 34%  in ten years.

- Liposuction procedures quadrupled between 1992 and 2002

- Breast augmentation surgeries septupled since 1992
