WHY SHOULD I GO TO COLOMBIA FOR A SURGERY

There are quite a number of reasons to fully justify a trip to Colombia. Before explaining some of them why don't you read our TESTIMONIALS section? You'll have a direct testimony of people who have undertaken full treatment and/or surgery in our country, and you can even contact them by email just to make sure what they're saying is the thruth.

Medicine in Colombia is reputedly one of the best in the world. Just to give you a couple of examples, something as world wide important as the heart pacemaker, was invented by a Colombian. Dr. Jorge Reynolds, whom you may have seen in DISCOVERY CHANNEL, in TV programs dealing with the whales heart investigation. That probably is the most important example we can give you about what the Colombian Medicine has given to the world. A second example we may give you now is the REFRACTIVE SURGERY, probably the most used ophthalmological surgery in the world. This surgery was invented in Colombia as well by Dr. Barraquer. There are many other examples in cardiological surgery and other specialties. We shall soon have a special section devoted to our most important medicine inventions.

Being our medicine among the best in the world, there is however a peculiar situation which is in your favour: we are, in economic terms, an underdeveloped country and thus our income level is extremely low compared to yours. That means our surgeries have a much lower cost than in any other country with an excellent medicine level.

I HEARD THAT BOGOTA IS A DANGEROUS PLACE, WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT IT ?

The city of Bogota boasts seven million inhabitants and, it is said to be as dangerous as New York City, but we who live here really do not see it any different security-wise from other large cities around the world, except maybe Geneva and Oslo that are cities known to be much safer than Bogota, New York, Madrid, and many others.

As to security, it is true that we have had some terrorist attacks, but never any where as many persons died as in New York or, more recently, Madrid.

In general terms, Colombia is a country that has suffered a lot due to two problems that hinder the country’s development. They are well known: drug trafficking and the guerrilla movement. What is not so well known is that no less than 81.4% of the total Colombian population repudiates and abhors these two blights and that everyone of us  in that group is doing everything we can to put an end to them.

Having said that, we must add that we have never seen a terrorist, a "guerrillero" or any thing like that and, most of the people in our enviroment have not been robbed or attacked, although we do know that happens every day, but.... not in the areas where we live and work. Isn't that the very same in your city?

ARE MEDICINE COSTS IN COLOMBIA LOW ENOUGH AS TO JUSTIFY A TRIP?

Since we have a low income per capita, our prices are very low for people living in countries like the US or any in Europe. The cost of a surgery in Colombia is usually THREE (3) times less than in other countries. However, there are surgeries costing as much as TEN (10) times less.

I'D LIKE TO KNOW WHICH IS THE PROCEDURE YOU SUGGEST IN ORDER TO GO TO COLOMBIA.

Everything should be done through the doctor you choose. That really is the easiest and most effective way of doing it.

1) You click on <MEDICAL SPECIALTIES> and once you're in that section you click on the specialty you need.

2) If you're in the section of your medical specialty, you just have to click on the name of any doctor and, you'll enter his website so that you may get to know him in depth. If you don't like him, close that window and click on another doctor. Once you find the one you need, go to his CONTACT section and send him an email.

3) The doctor will be able to help you with all of the information you need about hotels and so forth.

4) If you need some extra help, just CONTACT us the way you prefer and we'll be more than happy to assist you.
